COVID-19 code: DIMDI provides ICD-10-GM code U07.2! for Corona suspicion

Next to the confirmed infection of COVID-19, also a suspicion without laboratory confirmation can be coded.

After consultations and discussions, the WHO provides an own ICD code for COVID-19 suspicion.

For the German encoding, DIMDI (German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information) provided the respective secondary code.

As of now, the ICD-10-GM catalogue provides the following two codes for COVID-19:

U07.1!

COVID-19 confirmed by laboratory testing.

U07.2!

clinical or epidemiological diagnosis of COVID-19 where laboratory confirmation is inconclusive or not available
