On November 28, 2025, the Institute for the Hospital Reimbursement System (InEK) launched the “Proposal procedure for medical, scientific, and other expertise to participate in the continuous development of the aG-DRG system for 2027.”
Until March 31, 2026, it is now possible to submit proposals to the InEK on how the aG-DRG system can be developed and adapted to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Based on those proposals, the InEK will then carry out simulation calculations in the summer of 2026, which will result in the aG-DRG system for 2027.
One challenge in preparing proposals for the DRG development is choosing vocabulary that complies with the DRG system description when formulating technical issues and proposing solutions.
For proposals submitted to InEK by February 28, 2026, the InEK will check back with applicants to clarify any ambiguities.
