What is the NUB procedure and why is it important?

The NUB procedure, according to section 6 para. 2 KHEntgG (Hospital Remuneration Act) allows hospitals to negotiate extrabudgetary reimbursement for new diagnostic and treatment methods with payers. Its primary purpose is to bridge the so-called “calculation gap” – the delay of up to three years until innovative technologies are fully reflected in the German DRG system.

The NUB procedure creates a vital bridge between medical innovation and financial security.
