Controversy over Hospital reform bill continues: Minister meets today with the municipal umbrella organizations in Berlin

After being criticized by the opposition last week, Federal Minister of Health Lauterbach blames the federal states.

Last week CDU healthcare speaker Tino Sorge criticized Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach for the lack of communication and the bad relationship between him and his colleges in the federal states. The reform’s timeline is completely busted and the entire project in jeopardy, stated Tino Sorge.

Minister Lauterbach countered that the CDU/CSU-led federal states are blocking the Hospital Transparency Act in the Federal Council and pulling the hospitals to their side. Today, the minister is meeting with representatives of the municipal umbrella organizations in Berlin.

This dispute is at the expense of a plannable healthcare and the patients. What we need is a timely, pragmatic solution, which calls for compromises from all involved parties - including Minister Lauterbach.
