The "NUB-procedure" is an application process of the German institute for hospital Reimbursement (Institut für das Entgeltsystem im Krankenhaus - InEK) to give hospitals the opportunity to individually negotiate a reimbursement for new treatments with the health insurances.
If the application is successful and hospitals receive the NUB status 1 for the corresponding method they have the opportunity to negotiate individual fees with the cost bearers.
For methods receiving NUB-status 2, the question arises as to why status 1 was not assigned and what the next steps are:
- “What are likely the reasons why the application has been rejected?”
- “Should the application be submitted another time - e. g. in a modified form?”
- “Are there other measures that will help facilitate a specific reimbursement?”
Healthcare Heads’ “NUB 2nd look“ will answer those questions for your application.
Your NUB application will be reviewed by two experts who worked at the InEK to determine whether the NUB criteria according to paragraph 6 section 2 KHEntgG are met in general and which measures are necessary to achieve sufficient reimbursement for your innovative medical device.
