The application for NUB status (new examination and treatment method) is an evaluation procedure of the German InEK (Institute for the Hospital Reimbursement System). Hospitals apply for new diagnostic or therapeutic methods which are not yet properly reflected in the aG-DRG system, to be evaluated if they qualify for NUB status 1. If successful, the hospitals are allowed to negotiate an additional fee with the health insurance funds. NUB applications are submitted to the InEK annually by October 31 of each year. The InEK evaluates all information received on a NUB and then makes one decision for all applications. This is to ensure that all applications for a new method have the same status.
Our tip:
The attempts to get everything right in the NUB process are limited. So, get advice and support from a NUB expert right from the start. We guide you through every step of the process on the way to regulated and appropriate reimbursement for your new examination or treatment method.
